STRATA

Strata is conceived as a singular volume in stone, defined by clarity of form and material presence. Crafted predominantly from red travertine, the island reveals sedimentary depth and tonal variation, allowing its mineral warmth and natural voids to remain visible and unforced.

The geometry is deliberate. A substantial upper plane extends beyond a recessed base, creating a pronounced cantilever on three sides. Through this act of subtraction, the mass appears suspended — the weight of the stone balanced by proportion and precision. The tension between gravity and lift defines the composition.

Natural wood is introduced with restraint, inset discreetly within the monolithic form. These elements provide warmth without interrupting the continuity of the stone, reinforcing a dialogue between raw material and refined craft.

In Strata, material is not applied but revealed. The travertine is worked only to the degree required for exactness, its inherent irregularities preserved rather than concealed. The result is a functional monolith whose presence is deliberate, composed, and quietly commanding.
